Participating in a spring break medical relief trip is one of the most rewarding experiences one can have in medical school. WHSO works with various international foundations every year to send between 50-70 students around the world to work in underserved areas. For the 2009-2010 year, we will be sending students to Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua and one more location TBA.
Previous travel experience and proficiency in Spanish are helpful but NOT necessary, however, past and/or future involvement in WHSO is required. The cost of the trip will vary depending on location and airline ticket prices. However, students are often able to cover most, if not all, of their trip expenses by FUNDRAISING throughout the year.
**If you are interested in going on one of the international medical relief trips over spring break, volunteer hours with our local programs will help your chances in being accepted.
